'It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad'

So my lovely chicken Katie laid her first egg. It was quite small and Blue. Its a start.

On the downside, Pablo our young cockerel started crowing...I dont know why I'm suprised. I'm thinking its not great for our Bed and Breakfast guests. So we have a plan to fit a Cockerel collar (RSPCA approved)......it quietens the crowing. Im keeping everything crossed it works. We really want to keep him as we hatched him and hes a dude. Also how nice would it be to have chicks in the Spring
